Frequently Asked Questions

What is the duration of the trip?
Our full-day trip is 8 hrs, 3/4-day is 6 hrs and half-day trip is 4 hrs.
What is the maximum number of people on trip?
We can have maximum 6 people per trip.
Can we bring our own food?
You may bring whatever food and beverages you like.
What type of fish do you guys catch?
We target Marlin, Ahi Tuna, Mahi Mahi, Aku and Ono (wahoo) as well as other pelagic species.
Where do we go to fish and how far out do we go?
Depending on the duration of the charter the captain will make the decision based upon sea conditions and where he thinks the best chance for fish will be. Anywhere up to 20 miles offshore.
Do we get to keep our catch?
Yes. The captain and crew will filet and clean the fish at the end of the trip and bag it for guests. However any single fish over 50lbs will stay with the boat unless otherwise agreed upon.
Are we guaranteed to catch fish?
Catching is never a guarantee, however we do catch fish on approximately 80% of our trips.
Are we allowed to bring our own cooler(s)?
Yes, guests are welcome to bring coolers with them; however, a large cooler with ice will be supplied for their use.
What should we wear?
Light clothing, such as shorts, hats and t-shirts. Open-toed shoes are permitted. Don’t forget your sunscreen and sunglasses!
Can we bring alcohol?
Yes, alcohol is permitted, but please no glass!
Do you provide water?
No, we do not provide water. Guests are responsible for any food and beverages they would like to bring.
How many people can we have?
Due to Coast Guard regulations we are only allowed to have a total of 6 guests at a time per trip. Even small children are considered passengers.
Will we get seasick?
If you think there is a possibility that you will become seasick we recommend taking dramamine or meclizine the night before and the morning of for best results.
Do you offer transportation?
No we do not. For those with a vehicle they may park in the paid parking lot within Kewalo Basin Harbor or free beach parking on Ala Moana Park Dr. For those without a vehicle we recommend setting up a ride service such as Uber or Lyft to get to Kewalo Basin Harbor.
Do I need a fishing license?
Yes. The state of Hawaii requires all nonresident recreational marine fishers age 15 and over to purchase a fishing license. It’s easy to do, and you’ll get your license instantly → https://fishing.hawaii.gov/
What should I tip the captain and crew?
The general rule of thumb is to tip 10-20%. However, tips are not a requirement and should be based on the performance of the captain and crew not on the amount of fish caught.
What is the minimum age?
We recommend anglers are at least 5 years old. For children under 5, they must be supervised by an adult the entire trip and it is recommended to check with us for sea conditions forecasted the day of their trip.
Do we need life jackets?
Life jackets are provided for everyone on the boat and are optional. Life jackets for children 12 and under will be provided and are required to be worn by law.
